Yes, we accommodate families of all sizes and competitive prices accordingly.  BEAR SPS is family culture and we encourage families to train together!

Yes of course! While we love when families are in the same class, we understand that different family members may have different interests. As part of our family membership, different members may take part in separate systems.

Any sport or form of exercise comes with a risk of injury. However, there are a few things that make our program very safe.

At the beginning of every class, we go through a series of stretches. These stretches get your muscles and joints ready and warmed up for exercise. Also, Every class is supervised by trained, licensed professionals.

Noting that this is a contact art and there is a risk of injury, we place a tremendous amount of focus on fun and safety.

We advise any participant to consult with their doctor or physician if there is concern prior to beginning any new program.

People come to us of all fitness levels. We get natural-born athletes, and we get people who have a harder time with athletic endeavors. However, everyone gets the same focus and attention.

If you’re not in great shape, don’t worry. Go at your own pace, and we’ll do everything we can to help you learn each and every technique. Soon enough, your physical fitness will improve, and you’ll be in better shape than ever!

Not at all. Martial arts main focus is on peace, harmony, and composure. It teaches both children and adults how to avoid fighting, de-escalate a situation, and then defend yourself if necessary, but never to instigate violence.

BEAR SPS uses the scientific study of human movement and nervous system to combine the training of Martial Arts, Fitness, and Self Preservation to its simplest and most efficient form possible.

BEAR SPS has been developed to train students in a “3-dimensional” fashion. This accounts for the psychological, emotional, and physiological components of development. We understand the balance between these and how to utilize the principles of Martial Arts to foster growth and goal setting in a specific, achievable, and measurable way.

This method is done through objective result tracking, confidence building, and a culture of positive reinforcement!

Master Kenny Ault has dedicated himself to developing an environment of Family that is positive and supports each other in personal growth and achievement of goals. He has done this in BEAR Self Preservation Systems!

“Growth through Confidence and Confidence through Experience!” – Master Kenny Ault

The ‘3-Dimensional’ principle refers to the integration of psychological, emotional and physiological components to design and inspire training.

Unwittingly, most of the industry trains in a one-dimensional arena; commonly called the ‘sport model’ (lets spar to the body/let’s grapple/let’s box/let’s go shoot on the range at a stationary target). While BEAR SPS has great respect, trains, and believes in the value of sport and competition, the balance of reality vs. sport is always considered in the development of students. The ‘sport model’ always involves consent, awareness, focus on good form and proper technique. However, real conflict rarely includes consent, awareness, good form or proper technique!

This is the greatest paradox of modern self-defense training. Real confrontations occur in the 3-Dimensional world and all fights involve the dimensions of the body/mind system (emotional, psychological & physical). Therefore, all our principles and drills are based on emotional/psychological support or interference with a specific tactic (as would be the case in real life).

Remember; in a real incident, sensory overload accounts for more fear, doubt and hesitation than the actual attack. The punch, tackle, shove is a one-dimensional obstacle that, in a vacuum, is fairly easy to defeat, but overloads the intended recipient with emotions and thoughts outside the studio, the ring, the tournament. This overload causes many to feel the pressure and fail to respond in a way to effectively preserve themselves, their loved ones, or their way of life!

This reality has inspired our development of BEAR Self Preservation Systems and it’s why we have been doing simulations and controlled force-on-force training evolutions for the past 5 years.
